Throwback Review: "Creed" Review - (Non-Spoiler)

"You are Apollo Creed's son. Use the name, it's yours."

Creed gave me everything I wanted as a die-hard Rocky fan. It's meticulously directed by Ryan Coogler mixed with a dramatic script that packs an emotional punch and phenomenal performances from Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, and most of all Sylvester Stallone.

You can tell that director Ryan Coogler is a massive Rocky fan from the way he made this movie. Everything feels like Rocky and is the best addition to the franchise since the original. The boxing scenes feel so raw and realistic and the training montages just scream "GONNA FLY NOW!". While there are some questionable shots sprinkled in, Coogler still does a terrific job behind the camera.

Michael B. Jordan gives a fantastic performance and proves to be a force to be reckoned with. From what I've seen from Jordan, this is by far his best performance. Tess Thompson is a solid love interest and in my honest opinion, her performance isn't getting enough attention. But by far, the best performance in Creed is the Oscar-worthy acting given by Sylvester Stallone. My god, he's just absolutely fantastic and gives such a human performance as the famed Italian Stallion.

The script is great and it handles it's material so well. No one but Coogler could've made this movie as good as it actually was. Everything worked from the romance to the bond shared between Adonis and Rocky.

Creed is one of (if not the) best films of the "Rocky" franchise. It is emotional, entertaining, and the ultimate love-letter to Rocky. Creed is a must-see. I'm going to give "Creed" a 9 out of 10.
